(Yorba Linda, Cali.) was 3-for-5 with 5 RBI as 2nd ranked
Chapman University defeated 15th ranked Kean University, 14-2,
Saturday evening in Orange, California.
Junior Eric Ammirata (Hamilton, N.J.) was 3-for-5
with an RBI in the Cougars (3-1) first loss of the season.
The Panthers tacked on three runs in the bottom of the first inning
and never looked back. Their biggest offensive explosion was in the
sixth inning as they plated eight runs in the inning.
Kean broke up the shutout in the top of the sixth inning as
Ryan Clark (Livingston, N.J.) lined a single into
right-center to bring across Derek Gianakas (Edison,
N.J.). The Cougars added another run in the top of the
ninth as freshman Tim Lowe (Edison, N.J.) scored on an RBI single
by Ammirata.
Junior Andrew Cupido (0-1)(South Plainfield,
N.J.) suffered the loss. He tossed five plus innings allowing seven
runs and seven hits.
Kean will face off again against Chapman University on Sunday,
March 11th at 7 p.m. local time.
