Bartlinski Sends Kean To Championship Day; Cougars Defeat Rowan, 13-4 

Newark, N.J. (5/6/07) - Kean University rebounded from their morning loss by defeating Rowan University, 13-4, Sunday evening in the losers bracket of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament.

With the win the Cougars advance to once again take on The College of New Jersey in the championship round beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 7th at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium.  Kean will need to defeat TCNJ twice to claim the 2007 crown.

In tonight's action, Kean sprinted out to an early 8-2 lead after the third inning.  The Cougars offensive surged for five runs in the bottom of the second as designated hitter Mark Blevins (Edison, N.J.) got things going with an RBI triple into the rightfield corner.  Juniors Ryan Clark (Livingston, N.J.), Maikel De La Rosa (Newark, N.J.) and Dan Mattonelli (Hamilton, N.J.) each had RBI singles in the inning.

On the mound freshman Joe Bartlinski (South Amboy, N.J.) picked up his fifth win of the year. Bartlinski (5-0) tossed eight innings allowing seven hits and three runs.  He also fanned a season-high 12 batters and walked three in the win.

Offensively, Blevins was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI while senior Joe D'Andrea (Hamilton, N.J.) was 3-for-3 with three RBI and a runs scored.  Senior Aaron Richard (Plainfield, N.J.) was also 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.
