Cupido Sends Kean To Decisive NJAC Final; Kean Defeats TCNJ, 3-1 

Newark, N.J. (5/7/07) - Junior Andy Cupido (South Plainfield, N.J.) tossed a complete game four hitter as Kean University (34-7) forced a deciding championship game by the final score of 3-1 Monday afternoon at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark, N.J.

Cupido (3-2) allowed one unearned run while also fanning seven and walking two in the win.  The Cougars will now face The College of New Jersey in the NJAC Championship at 4 p.m.

TCNJ (31-9) pushed across the game's first run in the second inning as Gerard Haran scored after an infield throwing error with two outs.  Kean quickly tied things up in the bottom half of the inning as Mark Blevins (Edison, N.J.) singled home Aaron Richard (Plainfield, N.J.).

The Cougars plated what would be the winning run in the bottom of the sixth as junior Derek Gianakas (Edison, N.J.) singled home Eric Ammirata (Hamilton, N.J.).

Kean scored an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth as senior Perry Schatzow (Ocean Twp., N.J.) singled home Dan Mattonelli (Hamilton, N.J.).

Kean will face off against TCNJ for the fifth time this season at 4 p.m. in the NJAC Championship.
