Augustine Tabbed NJAC Pitcher of the Year;
Ioviero Selected NJAC Coach of the Year
Pitman, N.J. (5/7/07) - Senior Joe Augustine
(Highland Park, N.J.) has been tabbed the New Jersey
Athletic Conference (NJAC) Pitcher of the Year while head coach
Neil Ioviero has been selected by his peers as
NJAC Coach of the Year as announced by the conference office Monday
morning.
A three-time NJAC Pitcher of the Week selection, Augustine is
currently 7-2 overall with a 1.92 earned run average in 75.0
innings pitched. Against NJAC competition, he tied for the
league-lead with four victories while ranking fourth in the
conference in earned run average (1.37). Against league hitters,
Augustine ranked second in opponent batting average (.157), innings
pitched (38.1), and strikeouts (37).
Head coach Neil Ioviero was selected as the NJAC Coach of
the Year by his peers after leading the Cougars to the NJAC regular
season championship with a 15-3 league mark. In 10 years at the
helm of the Kean program, Ioviero has accumulated an overall
collegiate coaching record of 271-124-2.
