BaseballKean University to Host 2008 NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Baseball RegionalPhiladelphia, Pa. (1/3/08) - The NCAA Division III Baseball Committee in conjunction with the annual American Baseball Coaches Association Convention announced this evening that Kean University will be the host of the Mid-Atlantic Regional of the 2008 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. Kean University will host this year's regional tournament at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark, N.J. This year's championship will feature 54 teams (33 Pool A, 7 Pool B, 14 Pool C) divided into eight regional tournaments. Of the eight regional tournaments, three will feature eight teams while five will consist of six teams. Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium is home to the independent minor league baseball, Newark Bears, while also serving as the home for both the Division I NJIT Highlanders as well as local NJAC foe Rutgers-Newark. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Newark, "The Den" offers a terrific urban setting with breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline.
