BaseballCougars Storm Past Rutgers-Newark, 13-1Newark, N.J. (3/28/08) - Senior righty Tom Paglione (Hamilton, N.J.) tossed the first nine-inning complete game of his career as #3/9 Kean University stormed past Rutgers-Newark, 13-1, Friday afternoon at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium. Paglione (2-0) scattered 10 hits and allowed just one earned run as the Cougars improved to 16-5 overall and 1-1 in New Jersey Athletic Conference action. He also fanned five and walked no one. Freshman Matt Connors (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) was the only Scarlet Raider (8-9, 1-1 NJAC) was a multi-hit afternoon as he was 2-for-4, driving home Rutgers' only run of the afternoon.
The Cougars put the game away with a five-run fifth inning. Highlighting the inning included RBI singles by senior Bryan Burke (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Orgel as well as a two-run blast to leftfield by Gianakas for his second homerun of the afternoon. Gianakas was 3-for-3 with five RBI and three runs scored while Burke was 2-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI. Kean will be back in action on Saturday, March 29th when they take on the Profs of Rowan University at noon at Jim Hynes Stadium. |
