Ewing, N.J. (5/18/09) - After claiming their third
straight Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, Kean University has
landed five players on the All-Region team as announced Monday
afternoon.
Juniors Mike Moceri (Yardville, N.J.) and Joe Bartlinski (South Amboy, N.J.) were tabbed first-team, while senior Brandon Aich (Sayreville, N.J.) and freshman Dylan Laguna (Edison, N.J.) were awarded second-team honors. Freshman Ryan Zamorsky (Branchburg, N.J.) rounded out the honors with a third-team nod.
Also announced this afternoon was the Rawlings Mid-Atlantic Region Gold Glove team, where Moceri was tabbed as the second baseman.
Moceri (pictured right) has earned several accolades this season and with good reason as he has broken or tied three single season Cougar records (hits-82, doubles-22, RBI-57). Moceri is currently batting .436 with just three strikeouts while also adding seven triples and 54 runs scored. Moceri was recently named the NJAC Player of the Year. On the diamond, Moceri has recorded just four errors in 249 chances.
Bartlinski, who earned NJAC Pitcher of the Year honors, was named
first-team for the second straight season. Bartlinski is
currently 7-3 with a team-high 80 innings pitched as well as 59
strikeouts.
Aich is a two-time member of the second-team after compiling a career-high 10 saves this season. As the Kean all-time leader in the category, Aich also has a 3-0 record in 40 innings pitched.
Laguna (pictured left) earns second-team honors as a freshman after recording a .396 average to go along with a team-high 18 stolen bases.
Zamorsky earns third-team honors after compiling a 7-2 record in 10 starts. Zamorsky was also tabbed as the NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Year and was just recently named to the Mid-Atlantic Region All-Tournament Team.
