Appleton, Wis. (5/21/09) - Junior second
baseman Mike Moceri (Yardville, N.J.) was tabbed
as an ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-American as well as a National
Rawlings Gold Glove Winner at second base as announced at the World
Series banquet Thursday evening.
Moceri becomes the fourth Cougar to earn both first-team honors as well as a gold glove. Former Cougars Dan Zeffiro and Perry Schatzow earned gold gloves in 2007 while infielder Mikael De La Rosa earned the award a year ago. Moceri had just four errors in 249 chances.
Moceri also becomes the fourth first-teamer in program history, the first since Joe Augustine in 2007. Moceri led the squad with a .436 batting average as well as new program records of 82 hits, 22 doubles as well as 57 RBI. He also has struck out just three times in 188 at-bats.
