Profs Prevail in Extras for Doubleheader Sweep Over Baseball

Glassboro, N.J. (4/23/17) – The Kean University baseball team suffered a sweep by Rowan University by the finals of 9-2 and 3-2 in extra innings on Sunday afternoon in a rescheduled NJAC matchup.

Rookie Frank LoGuidice was a combined 5-for-7 on the afternoon.

Game One

The Profs (25-11, 9-5 NJAC) jumped out to a big lead in the first three frames with eight runs on seven hits and four walks.

Kean (21-14, 7-7 NJAC) erased the shutout in the seventh as Brock Podgurski hit a pinch hit, two out RBI single.  Junior Matt Krupa added another with a two out, RBI single in the eighth.

Jim Fitzgerald collected two of Kean's six hits in the opener.

Game Two

The nightcap required extra innings as the Cougars forced the extra frame after scoring in the top of the ninth.  In the inning rookie Mike Fidanza tripled with one out and LoGuidice answered with an infield single to knot the game at two-all.

Rowan won in the bottom of the 10th as Matt Jolly singled up the middle, scoring Shawn Leydon who reached on a walk.

Offensively LoGuidice (pictured left) was 4-for-5 with an RBI.

Kean returns home for their final regular season NJAC game on Thursday when they host Rutgers-Camden.
