FootballChunn Repeats as NJAC Offensive Player of the YearPITMAN, N.J. (11/20/09) - For the second straight year, senior running back Jared Chunn (Tinton Falls, N.J.) has been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year after leading the conference with 1,088 yards this season. It is the fourth straight year the Cougars have earned the honor that is voted on by the league's 10 head coaches, as A.J. Roque was also a two-time NJAC Offensive Player of the Year during his career that saw him set the conference's all-time passing record.
Against William Paterson, Chunn carried the ball 37 times for a career-high 246 yards, the fourth highest total in single game history at Kean, while also adding 210 yards rushing against The College of New Jersey earlier in the season. In 41 career games, Chunn became just the second player in program history to rush for more than 3,000 yards in his career, as his 3,496 career yards are ranked second in school history behind Trenell Smith's 3,631 career yards. The program's all-time leader in career rushing touchdowns (27) and all-purpose yards (4,062), Chunn is also tied for second in school history with 30 total touchdowns. The four-year starter has also been selected to participate in the inaugural Division III North South Senior Classic in Salem, Va., on December 5th. |
