Ewing, N.J. (10/21/17) – The Kean University football team won their third game of the season with a 26-3 win over The College of New Jersey in New Jersey Athletic Conference action.
The one-two combo of seniors Brian Matthews and Damian Corredor helped keep TCNJ (1-6, 1-5 NJAC) off balance for most of the afternoon. Matthews rumbled for 157 yards on 18 carries and a receiving touchdown and Corredor added 88 yards on 11 attempts. The Cougars out-rushed the Lions 247-40.
Kean (3-4, 3-3 NJAC) got on the board midway through the first quarter marching 80-yards in 11 plays. The Cougars ran nearly seven minutes off the clock and quarterback Charles App found David Patterson Jr. for the first of three touchdown passes on the day. The Cougars followed that with an 18-play drive in the second quarter that ended with a Marcin Zadlo field goal.
Sam Jackson's interception set up the Lions with a scoring opportunity. TCNJ would end the drive with a 36-yard field goal from Zachary Pharo.
The Cougars would score 16 unanswered points in the second half on the two remaining App touchdown passes and another Zadlo field goal.
Kean returns home to face Christopher Newport University on Saturday.
