Field Hockey Selected to Finish Fourth in NJAC
Poll
Pitman, N.J. (8/28/07) - The Kean
University field hockey team has been selected to finish fourth in
the 2007 NJAC poll, as selected by the leagues seven coaches.
Kean returns a trio of all-league players from its 2006 squad
including junior back Katie McGee, senior midfielder Alli Green,
and sophomore goaltender Jenni Barry.
The Kean University field hockey team will look to further their
goals from last season as they approach the 2007 season with a
returning core of 11 players and a fresh class of 12 rookies.
At forward, the Cougars return their leading scorer from a year
ago in sophomore Brittany Gibbs (West Deptford,
N.J.). Gibbs recorded 12 goals in 13 games and for
her efforts was named Second-Team All-Region. Kean will also
see the return of senior Alli Green (West Deptford,
N.J.), a 2006 All-NJAC selection, who tallied eight points
as she appeared and started in all 16 games last season.
At midfield, Katie McGee (Cherry Hill, N.J.)
will enter her junior season. McGee, a 2006 First Team
All-NJAC member, tallied four goals and eight assists a season
ago. Also back is sophomore Stephanie Cirino
(Warminster, Pa.). Cirino registered three goals
while also appearing in all 16 games last year.
On defense, the Cougars return a trio of sophomores in
Laura Janousek (Yardville, N.J.), Lauren
Eichman (Laurel Springs, N.J.) and Marcy Miller
(Sewell, N.J.).
In the net, Kean will see a familiar face as Jenni Barry
(Berkeley Heights, N.J.) starts her sophomore
season. Barry, an All-NJAC member in 2006, recorded 106 saves
in over 1100 minutes of action in her rookie campaign.
