Ducks Push Past Cougars in Overtime, 2-1

Hoboken, N.J. (9/12/07) - Freshman forward Lauren Griggs (Hillsborough, N.J.) netted the game-winning goal with less than seven minutes remaining in the second overtime period as Stevens Institute of Technology defeated Kean University, 2-1, Wednesday evening.

The Ducks (4-1) opened up the scoring in the final minute of the first half when sophomore forward Kara Borzillo (Mount Laurel, N.J.) punched a shot from the far-right wing of the circle into the left corner of the cage.

The Cougars (3-1), who outshot Stevens by a 24-13 count on the evening, tied things up in the 53rd minute when senior forward Alli Green (West Deptford, N.J.) chipped a shot off a cross-pass from freshman forward Amie Hoch (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) into the right side of the net.

After a scoreless first overtime, Stevens closed out the game in the second extra period. Griggs deflected a Stephanie Linder (Eatontown, N.J.) shot into the right corner of the net to give the Ducks a 2-1 win.
