Field Hockey Pushes Past Roanoke, 4-1
Salem, Va. (9/12/10) – Senior Kelly Mataya scored two goals to help the Kean University field hockey team to a 4-1 win over Roanoke College Sunday afternoon.
The Cougars (3-1) scored the match's first four goals and
didn't look back in their first match in over a week.
Sophomore Kelsey Brown got KU on the board in the sixth minute off an initial corner opportunity. Mataya then scored her first goal of the match at 14:55 and senior Amie Hoch scored just about six minutes later to give Kean an early 3-0 lead in the first half.
Mataya (pictured right) would score again in the second half at 68:21 to close out the scoring for the Cougars.
Senior Lauren Dobbs and freshman Jessica Zebley combined for the win in the cage.
Kean will travel to Salve Regina University on Thursday.
