Field Hockey Pushes Past Roanoke, 4-1

Salem, Va. (9/12/10) – Senior Kelly Mataya scored two goals to help the Kean University field hockey team to a 4-1 win over Roanoke College Sunday afternoon.

The Cougars (3-1) scored the match's first four goals and didn't look back in their first match in over a week.

Sophomore Kelsey Brown got KU on the board in the sixth minute off an initial corner opportunity.  Mataya then scored her first goal of the match at 14:55 and senior Amie Hoch scored just about six minutes later to give Kean an early 3-0 lead in the first half.

Mataya (pictured right) would score again in the second half at 68:21 to close out the scoring for the Cougars.

Senior Lauren Dobbs and freshman Jessica Zebley combined for the win in the cage.

Kean will travel to Salve Regina University on Thursday.
