Field Hockey Sails Past Salve Regina
Middletown, R.I. (9/16/10) – The Kean University
field hockey team scored their first goal five minutes into action
and didn't look back as they cruised to a 7-0 victory over
host Salve Regina University Thursday evening.
Freshman Makia Sturgis and senior Erica Kelly (pictured right) each tallied two goals to lead the Cougars (4-1) in the win. Each also added an assist for a total of five points on the evening. Senior Kelly Mataya added one goal and two assists while junior Olivia Triano finished the night with a goal and assist. Sophomore Kelsey Brown closed out the scoring with a single goal in the 56th minute.
Kean held a commanding edge in penalty corners (15-3) and shots (19-6).
The Cougars return home for action on Sunday when they face St. Joseph's College of Maine.
