Union, N.J. (9/17/11) – The Kean University field hockey team recorded a goal in each half as they held visiting Susquehanna University scoreless to win by the final of 2-0, Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars (3-3) held a 21-12 advantage in penalty corners while also edging the Crusaders (2-3) in shots, 19-13.
Kean jumped on the board in the first half as sophomore Stephanie Soares drove up the left side of the field on a breakaway and finished the play by feeding freshman Briana Mace who was set up in front of the cage for what would be the game-winner.
The Cougars added an insurance goal in the second half as senior Olivia Triano fired a hard shot from the right side of the cage 11 minutes into the action after the break.
Rookie Kylie Vaughn-Kuehl (pictured left) made four stops in the win.
Kean returns to action on Tuesday, September 20th when they host William Paterson University in NJAC action at 7:30 p.m.
