WATERVILLE, Maine (9/13/14) – Junior Marissa Robinson scored twice and Cougar goaltender Katie DiCarlo recorded her first shutout of 2014 as Kean University's field hockey team dismantled Thomas College 4-0 on Saturday. The Cougars limited Thomas to just four shots on the day, while Kean took 20.
Kean got the scoring going early, with Krista LaMaina putting one home unassisted just five minutes into the game. Another five minutes later, Robinson added another tally to make it 2-0.
The 2-0 score would hold through halftime and then late in the second half, until Robinson notched her second goal of the game with an assist by Krista LaMaina at 58:30.
Then with time running out, Kean tallied one final goal, scored by Teresa Carr (pictured left). It was the first collegiate goal for the freshman and came with seven seconds on the clock.
Kean is now 4-2 on the year, while the Terriers fell to 1-6. In addition to outshooting Thomas 20-4, Kean held an 18-7 advantage on penalty corners.
Terrier goalie Abby Charrier faced 9 shots on the day, stopping five of them. DiCarlo stopped both shots she was asked to for her ninth career shutout.
Kean will remain in Maine to take on St. Joseph's College in a high noon showdown on Sunday.
