Field Hockey Posts Sixth Shutout of the Season in 6-0 Win

Union, N.J. (9/17/17) – The Kean University field hockey team picked up their sixth shutout of the season by topping St. Josephs' College of Maine by the final of 6-0 on Sunday morning.

With the win the #20 Cougars improve to 7-0 on the season while the loss drops the Monks to 2-3.

Kean controlled the offense throughout, allowing just two second half shots on the day.  The Cougars led 27-2 in shots overall and 18-1 in penalty corner opportunities.

Jenna Patrone scored the game-winner six minutes into the contest on a one-timer.  The score would remain that way for the next 15 minutes before two quick goals from Krista LaMaina then Shauna LaMaina.  The combo paired for the game's second goal and Shauna LaMaina tallied an unassisted marker 41 seconds later for a 3-0 advantage.

Teresa Carr fired a feed from Shauna LaMaina in the 29th minute and Shana LaMaina closed out the half with an unassisted tally for the 4-0 first half lead.

Shauna LaMaina rounded out the scoring with a penalty stroke goal in the final minute for the final.

Bailee Mullen made one save on the day.  In total, Shauna LaMaina netted a hat-trick and added two assists.

Kean heads to the road to take on DeSales University on Tuesday.
