Lynchburg, Va. (9/23/17) – The Kean University field hockey team rallied down 2-0 to top Lynchburg College, 3-2 on Saturday afternoon at Liberty University.
#19 Cougars remain unbeaten and improve to 9-0 on the season while the loss drops Lynchburg to 6-2 on the season.
For the first time this season Kean found themselves in a 2-0 hole early as the Hornets broke through in the sixth minute with a shot from the top off a restart. Lynchburg found the back of the cage again six minutes later with a shot to the far post for a quick 2-0 lead.
Freshman Megan Houser entered the game shortly thereafter and would go on to record three saves while not allowing a goal the rest of the way. The Cougar offense then came to live near the end of the first half as Jenna Patrone finished off a penalty corner opportunity from Kayla Molnar to cut the deficit to one.
Kean came out strong out of the break evening the game at two-all just over minute into the action as Raykena Brown touched in a ball from Teresa Carr. Senior Krista LaMaina scored the game-winner at 50:52 as she punched in a cross from Patrone.
The Cougars stay on the road and head right back into action on Sunday when they face Bridgewater College.
