Field Hockey Captures First-Ever Regular Season Title with Senior Day Victory over William Paterson

UNION, N.J. (10/28/17)- Three first half goals, including two from Shauna LaMaina helped the #9 Kean University Field Hockey team capture their first ever regular season title with a 3-0 victory over William Paterson University on Senior Day.

The Cougars finish the regular season at 18-1 overall and 5-1 in the NJAC. The Pioneers finish their season at 3-14 overall and 0-6 in the NJAC.

The Cougars overwhelmed the Pioneers from the opening whistle, allowing only two shots all contest.  Kean scored all three goals in the opening 30 minutes and didn't look back as the Cougars collected their 12th shutout of the season.

Teresa Carr notched her 18th goal of the season and her sixth assist of the season, when she found LaMaina for the final goal of the afternoon in 28th minute.

Megan Houser improved to 9-1 in goal as Kean tied a program record for victories in a season, a mark that was set a season ago.  

Head Coach Leslie LaFronz and the Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 1st in the semifinals of the NJAC Championship against the nationally-ranked Red Hawks of Montclair State University at 7:30 p.m.
