GILBERT, Ariz. (11/30/17) - Seniors Teresa Carr, Shauna LaMaina and Krista LaMaina have all been selected to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III South Atlantic All-Region team. Carr and S. LaMaina were named to the first team, while K. LaMaina was named to the second team.
Carr was named the NJAC Midfielder of the Year and an All-NJAC first team selection after tallying 47 points on 20 goals and seven assists, including three game-winners. She ranked second in the NJAC in points and goals, while being named the NJAC and ECAC Player of the Week. This is Carr's first All-Region selection.
S. LaMaina was tabbed the NJAC Defensive Player of the Year and an All-NJAC first team selection after anchoring a Cougars defense that only allowed 20 goals and posted 12 shutouts in the process. She also ranked first on the team in assists (15) and third in both points (45) and goals (15). During the season, LaMaina was named the NJAC and ECAC Player of the Week. This is LaMaina's second All-Region selection, after being selected to the first team in 2016.
K. LaMaina was named to the All-NJAC first team, after leading the Cougars in both points (54) and goals (24), including five game-winners. LaMaina led the NJAC in points, points per game, goals, goals per game. This is LaMaina's second All-Region selection, after being selected to the second team in 2016.
The Cougars won a program record 21 games, captured the NJAC regular season title and reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.
