Wright Named NJAC All-Star
POMONA, N.J. (2/28/08) - Senior guard
Lamar Wright (Galloway, N.J.) earned New Jersey
Athletic Conference second-team honors after helping lead the Kean
University men's basketball back to the NJAC playoffs for the first
time since 2000-01.
An honorable mention selection a year ago, Wright became the
29th player in program history to score 1,000 career
points, reaching the milestone in just three years in a Cougar
uniform.
Despite missing eight games this season with an ankle injury,
Wright led the team in both scoring (18.4 points per game) and
rebounding (5.3 per game). He connected on nearly half of his
field goals (125-of-251, .498) and hit 78.5 percent of his free
throws (51-of-65), while also contributing 32 assists and 29
steals.
In 71 career games since transferring from CW Post, Wright
tallied 1,067 career points to rank 20th in program
history, and finished with 101 career three pointers.
The Cougars closed out the season with a 9-17 overall record and
finished third in the NJAC South Division to advance to the
playoffs.
