UNION N.J. (3/15/16) – The Kean University men's basketball team completed the 2016-17 season earlier this semester with a 1-24 record.
The season was highlighted by a 68-64 victory on the road at Rutgers-Newark in NJAC action on January 25. The Cougars came into that game 0-18 and trailed by as many as 19 points, yet had the heart and hunger to erase the deficit and earn the victory. Senior Kevin Grek led the way by shooting 7-of-8 from the field, including four three-pointers. The Kean defense held the Scarlet Raiders scoreless for the final 2:53 of the game.
The Cougars suffered three losses of less than three points, including a pair of one-point setbacks to NJAC rivals Rutgers-Camden and Stockton University. The challenging schedule also included a matchup with Division I Drexel University in Philadelphia.
The program honored Grek on Senior night against Rowan University on February 8, but the rest of the team is eligible to return for the 2017-18 season next year.
