MAHWAH, N.J. (1/27/18)- Keenan Williams Jr. and Carry Saturne combined for 34 points as the Kean University men's basketball team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest to Ramapo College, 82-67 on Saturday afternoon.
Josh Ford scored 22 points for the RoadRunners who improve to 15-5 overall and 11-2 in the NJAC. Williams Jr. and Saturne each scored 17 points apiece for the Cougars who fall to 5-15 overall and 3-10 in the NJAC.
Ramapo opened the contest on a 23-8 run and didn't look back as they controlled the game from the opening whistle. The RoadRunners shot 50.0% from the field compared to 33.3% for the Cougars in the opening stanza. Ramapo maintained the advantage into halftime with a 36-29 lead.
Despite the RoadRunners expanding their lead to 27 points with a 33-19 run, Williams Jr. and Saturne each scored 11 of their 17 points in the second half. Kean would outscore Ramapo in the final 6:03, 22-13, which included eight points from Williams Jr. and seven from Saturne.
Thomas Bonacum finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Nick Stanek totaled 11 points for the RoadRunners. Stephen Strom chipped in with nine points for Kean.
Head Coach Rob Kurzinsky and the Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 31st, hosting the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University at 8:00 p.m.
