Men's Lacrosse Breezes Past Cyclones, 14-10 

Hackettstown, N.J. (4/4/07) - Kean University's Steve Gill (Patchogue, N.Y.) and Dennis Lukascko (Lincoln Park, N.J.) each recorded four goals as the men's lacrosse team defeated host Centenary College in Skyline Conference action, 14-10, Wednesday evening.

With the win the Cougars improve to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Centenary opened the game and scored on their first possession as sophomore Travis Roy (Whippany, N.J.) won the face-off, found Nate Small (Great Mills, Md.) who assisted Ryan Mangold (Hillsborough, N.J.) for a 1-0 lead just 0:54 seconds into the contest.  The difference in the quarter came over the next 14-plus minutes, as Kean proceeded to outscore the Cyclones 5-1.  Gill and Lukascko combined for four goals in the quarter while senior Mike Tanis (Oak Ridge, N.J.) netted an unassisted goal.  The two teams traded the next five goals, each score going back and forth for the entire second period.  The Cougars would head into the break with an 8-4 lead. 

As the second half began Centenary again quickly scored netting a fifth goal just 0:26 seconds into the restart.  The three goal deficit would be the closest that they would get as the Cougars rattled off four of the next six goals, the fourth on an unassisted score from Gill twelve seconds into the final quarter which extended the lead to 12-7. 

Offensively Gill added three assists for a game high seven points while freshman Scott Leathem (Fair Lawn, N.J.) added four assists in the win.  For Centenary Small scored three and assisted on three more for his six points.
