Springfield Surges Past Men's Lacrosse, 17-2

Springfield, Mass. (5/7/08) - Pride attack Jake Beebe (Sudbury, Mass.) scored a game-high five goals along with five assists to lead Springfield College to a 17-2 victory over visiting Kean University in men's lacrosse action in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

With the loss the Cougars finish the season with a 14-6 mark, their best season record since the 1992 season after advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

Kean's two goals of the evening were scored by senior Dennis Novello (Freehold, N.J.) and sophomore Anthony Bertucci (Edison, N.J.) in the first two periods of play.

For the second straight contest, the Springfield defense held their opponent to zero goals in the final two periods of action.

In goal, senior Dave Nichols (Florham Park, N.J.) (pictured right) closed out his career with 10 saves in just over 50 minutes of action.
