Lawrenceville, N.J. (5/4/09) - The Kean University men's lacrosse team placed five players on the Skyline All-Conference team, as voted on by the conference coaches and announced by the Skyline Conference on Monday.
Senior defender Nick Miceli (East Setauket, N.Y.)
and freshman midfielder Andrew Rau (Fair Lawn,
N.J.) were selected to the first-team while juniors
Anthony Bertucci (Edison, N.J.) and John
Gesumaria (Cranford, N.J.) as well as sophomore
Chris Masiulis (Ellicott City, Md.) were tabbed to
the second-team.
A three-time all conference award winner, Miceli (pictured right)
led the Cougars with 26 caused turnovers this season after playing
in all 19 contests. In addition, he collected 39 groundballs
as a member of the Cougar defense that led the Skyline in goals
against average (6.88).
Rau (pictured left) earns first-team honors as a rookie as both a midfielder and specialist. Rau was 101-167 in faceoff opportunities for a .605 winning percentage. In addition, he grabbed 61 groundballs, good for second on the squad. He also recorded two goals and one assist good for three points.
Bertucci earns all conference honors for the first time after leading KU with 33 goals scored. Of the 33, 10 were man-up opportunities. Bertucci also led the way collecting 73 groundballs while causing 13 turnovers.
Masiulis was also a part of a backfield that led the Skyline with a 6.88 goals against average. Masiulis tallied 42 groundballs and caused 16 turnovers. He also added one goal after starting all 19 contests.
Gesumaria earns all-conference honors in his first full season starting in net. Gesumaria had 196 saves and led the Skyline with a 6.89 goals against average. He also was tops with a .605 save percentage.
