Men’s Lacrosse Wins Third-Straight

UNION, N.J (3/9/13)Mike Criscitello (pictured left) won 16 of his 19 faceoffs as the Kean University men's lacrosse team overwhelmed visiting Lasell College 16-5 on Saturday. Brad Mills and Sean Bobal each rang up three goals and an assist to lead Kean in scoring.

The Cougars lept out to a three-goal lead and kept the Lasers off the board in the first quarter. A pair of Bobal goals sandwiched around an unassisted tally by Mike Sheehan marked the entirety of the first period scoring thanks to solid play of Kean goaltender Lane Zierten. He would finish with eight saves.

The second quarter was more balanced. Both sides scored three, with the Cougars ripping off three-straight after the first Laser goal. Mills scored one of those during the run and assisted another. Dylan Fernades scored the final two goals of the half for Lasell.

Kean made the game a runaway after the break. The Cougars scored seven unanswered goals to begin the half, including a 5-0 blanking over the third quarter. At one point, John Marcelli and Mills traded scores to move the lead from 8-3 to 12-3.

The Lasers were outshot 57-24 and Kean won 18 of 24 total faceoffs. The Cougars also killed off every man-down situation they faced.

Kean's next game will be at Sewanee University on Wednesday.
