UNION, N.J. (4/13/13) – The Kean University men's lacrosse team rolled to a 22-8 victory over Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday. The win sets up a Wednesday night collision with arch-rival Montclair State, which is also unbeaten in the Skyline Conference.
The win streak is the longest ever in program history, as Kean looks to tie their season best for wins on Wednesday evening.
After the relatively tight first quarter (3-2), the Cougars began to throw their weight around in the second. By halftime, Kean led 27-6 in shots, 21-7 in groundballs and 12-3 on the scoreboard. Nine different players scored points for the Cougars, led by Cheifitz who tallied two goals and five assists in the first 30 minutes.
Kean continued to dominate in the second half. Garret VanDoren and Max Fields split the final 30 minutes between the pipes for Kean, and in all 45 different players saw action in the game for the Cougars. Dylan Conte (pictured left) netted a hat trick while Mac Peters and Michael Cascone scored their first collegiate points on Saturday as well.
The Cougars were perfect on clear attempts, won two-thirds of the faceoffs and caused twice as many turnovers as the Knights.
Kean next will head to Montclair State University for a huge Skyline showdown on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Montclair.
