Face Offs Won
BOHEMIA, N.Y. (3/7/14) – Senior Richard Cheifitz scored four goals to lead all players but it was not enough to get the Kean University men's lacrosse program past Plattsburgh State University in an 8-5 game on Friday. Both teams are now 2-1 on the year.
Goalkeeper Dino Vitale also had a good performance against Plattsburgh. The senior saw a lot of rubber – at least 11 shots per quarter, 52 in the game – and he saved two-thirds of the shots on goal to keep the Cougars in the game. He made 16 saves in total.
Kean led 2-1 after the first period on a pair of goals by Cheiftiz, and the Fair Lawn native ensured a hat trick in the second as the Cougars took a 3-2 lead into the halftime break.
Plattsburgh dominated the third, however, and scored six unanswered goals (from six different players) to take control of the game.
John Marcelli scored the other Kean goal and also had an assist on the night.
The Cougars will continue their road trip with a game Sunday in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina against Emmanuel College.
