Men’s Lacrosse Blasts Marymount 10-3

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (3/12/14) – The Kean University men's lacrosse team ended its spring break Southern swing in dominant fashion with a 10-3 win over previously undefeated Marymount (Va.) University on Wednesday. The Cougars are now 4-1 on the year.

Marymount fell to 5-1 with their first loss.

Anthony Carpenter led the Cougars with five goals and two assists, while Richard Cheifitz scored the game-winner during the second quarter.

Garret VanDoren played all 60 minutes in goal for Kean and made eight saves to earn the win.

Matt Speciale had two goals, while Vincent Ferraro and Anthony Perrotta also found the back of the cage for the Cougars. Daniel Brenner contributed an assist.

Jamar Thigpen led the team with six faceoff wins and Marc Zolchonock had two caused turnovers for the team lead in that category. Five different Cougars finished with a team-high two groundballs.

Kean will be back in action on Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Cougars host Utica College.
