With Trio of Hat Tricks, Men’s Lacrosse Makes it Seven W’s in a Row

WASHINGTON, N.J. (3/29/14)Anthony Perrotta, Matt Speciale and Vincent Ferraro all notched hat tricks as the Kean University men's lacrosse team topped intrastate rival Centenary College 19-7 on a rainy Saturday in Washington Township.

The season-high goal total helped the Cougars extend their record to 9-1 on the season while the Cyclones fell to 2-5.

Kean was dominant throughout the game; the visitors scored the first seven goals of the matchup and shut out Centenary 6-0 in the first quarter. The second period was similar as Kean earned five of the seven tallies to take an 11-2 lead into halftime.

In addition to his three goals, Perrotta also led Kean with two assists in the game. 13 different players earned points in the game for the Cougars. Along with the three players with hat tricks, John Marcelli, Jeff Christiano, Ed Adams, Daniel Brenner, Anthony Carpenter and Richard Cheifitz all had multiple-point days for Kean. Adams also won 8-of-12 faceoffs and grabbed six ground balls to lead Kean in those categories.

Dino Vitale, Garret VanDoren and Maxwell Fields all saw time between the pipes. Marc Zolchonock (pictured left) forced three turnovers on defense.

The Cougars will return home on Wednesday and open Skyline Conference play with a game against SUNY Maritime at 7 p.m. at Kean Alumni Stadium.
