Men’s Lax Comeback Keeps Up Hot Streak
GALLOWAY, N.J. (4/16/14) – The Kean University men's lacrosse team rallied from a 4-1 first-quarter deficit and scored 12 of the final 14 remaining goals to upend Richard Stockton College 13-6 in Skyline Conference Action on Wednesday. It is the Cougars' 11th-straight victory and moves them to 4-0 in the conference.
Stockton scored 30 seconds later to re-take the lead.
But that setback ignited an outstanding Kean run that featured eight-straight goals over 11 minutes of game time, turning a tense contest with the Cougars in danger of dropping their first game in over a month into a quite comfortable lead for the visitors.
After Ferraro scored again with 10:10 to go in the game, the Cougars took their foot off the gas and were content to run out the clock. The Ospreys did score once in the final 10 minutes, but goalkeeper Dino Vitale stopped the rest of the shots on his way to the win. He made a total of 13 saves on the night.
Jeff Christiano opened the scoring for Kean, but Vincent Manasia scored twice for the Ospreys to help them race out to their early 4-1 lead. Those two goals were the most scored by any Stockton player.
The Cougars will return home on Saturday to host Wentworth Institute of Technology at 3 p.m. inside Kean Alumni Stadium.
