Roberto and Yenesel Net Hat-Tricks as Men’s Lacrosse Defeats FDU-Florham in Season Opener

UNION, N.J. (2/28/18) - Tyler Roberto and Andrew Yenesel both finished with four points on three goals and one assist as the Kean University Men's Lacrosse team dispatched FDU-Florham, 11-6 in their season opener on Wednesday evening.

Jake Frankovits notched two goals as the Cougars improve to 1-0 overall. Michael Warg tallied a hat-trick for the Devils who fall to 0-1 overall.

Yenesel completed his hat-trick in the first half, including scoring two of his three goals midway through the second quarter. Kean dominated on shots in the opening stanza, 23-9, as they held an 8-2 advantage at halftime.

Frankovits and Roberto each notched a goal in the third to stretch the Cougars lead to 10-3 with 6:59 remaining. FDU would score three unanswered in the fourth, but couldn't make up any ground from the early Kean lead.

Connor Baucom won 10 faceoffs and collected five groundballs, while Matt Palmieri scooped up four groundballs and tallied two caused turnovers in the victory. Ryan Sieb made nine saves in 60 minutes of work between the pipes.

Head Coach Shelley Sheiner and the Cougars will return to action on Saturday, Mar. 3rd, hosting the Saints of Emmanuel College at 1:00 p.m.
