UNION, N.J. (4/20/18)- Cole Blackley notched two goals, including the game-winner as the Kean University men's lacrosse team extended their winning streak to nine games with a 5-4 victory over St. Joseph's College on Friday evening.
After each side notched a goal in the first half, St. Joseph's ripped off three unanswered to take a 4-2 lead with 14:18 remaining in the contest. The Cougars defense held the Golden Eagles scoreless for the final 14 minutes as Kean scored three unanswered, including the game-winner from Blackley with 4:31 to play.
Matt Palmieri totaled six groundballs and four caused turnovers, including a key stop with nine seconds remaining to seal the victory for the Cougars. Thomas Francy improved to 7-0 overall with 11 saves, including six in the second half. Max McNicholas finished with four groundballs, while Greg Castor and Yenesel totaled three groundballs apiece.
Tonight's victory also comes on what would have been Coach Hawley Waterman 93rd birthday.
Head Coach Shelley Sheiner and the Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, Apr. 25th, hosting the Rams of Farmingdale State University at 7:00 p.m.
