Men's Soccer Places Five on All-NJAC Squad
POMONA, N.J. (11/1/06) - Juniors
Anthony Tuesta (Clifton, N.J.) and Konrad
Kruczek (Clifton, N.J.) earned New Jersey Athletic
Conference Men's Soccer First-Team honors to head the list of five
Cougars on the al-conference squad, as selected by the NJAC coaches
and announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.
Juniors Damien Serafin (Wallington, N.J.),
Thomas Fink (Hamilton, N.J.) and Kyle
Crego (Ocean City, N.J.) all earned honorable mention
recognition for the Cougars.
The team's leading scorer, Tuesta also earned NJAC Offensive Player
of the Year honors, after scoring 13 goals for a team-high 28
points.
A three-time all-NJAC honoree, Kruczek earns first-team honors for
the second straight season after earning second-team recognition as
a rookie in 2004. A two-time captain, the back scored four goals
and added an assist for nine points this season. Playing primarily
on defense this season, Kruczek scored the team's lone goal in a
1-1 tie against New Jersey City University. The three-year starter
is one of only three players to start every game this season, and
the only Cougar to start every game the last two seasons.
Serafin earns his second-straight honorable mention honor after
ranking second on the team in both goals (5) and points (13). The
midfielder tallied a goal in victories over Rutgers-Newark, Ramapo
College and William Paterson University and recorded the assist on
the game-winner against The College of New Jersey.
One of only three players to start every game this season, Fink
recorded a goal and a pair of assists from his defender position.
In the Cougars' regular-season ending victory over William Paterson
University, Fink scored his first goal in a Cougar uniform since
transferring to Kean this fall.
Crego started every game in goal for the Cougars this season,
recording 95 saves while allowing 26 goals. The junior, who was
named the NJAC Defender of the Week for the week ending October
1st, ranked third in the conference in saves this season.
The Cougars earned the fourth seed in the NJAC tourney, where they
advanced to the semifinals before falling to top-seeded Montclair
State University. At 9-7-5, the Cougars await a possible bid to the
Eastern College Athletic Conference Metro Region tournament.
