Tuesta's Two Goals Lift Kean Over Stockton, 3-1

Pomona, N.J. (9/15/07) - Senior Anthony Tuesta (Clifton, N.J.) netted two goals, including the game-winner as Kean University picked up their first win in conference play by defeating Richard Stockton College, 3-1, Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars (3-3, 1-0 NJAC) snapped a three-game losing streak and dealt Stockton (4-1-1, 0-1 NJAC) its first loss of the year.

James Doherty (Little Silver, N.J.) also netted a goal and Kean goalkeeper Kyle Crego (Ocean City, N.J.) allowed just one marker on a penalty kick and made three saves to earn the win.

The scoring opened early in the first half, just 1:30 into the game when Doherty scored on a header assisted by Damien Serafin (Wallington, N.J.) for the early 1-0 advantage. Stockton quickly answered at 4:32 when Rafael Duarte (Ocean City, N.J.) scored on a penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1.

Kean fired right back on Tuesta's first goal of the game with an assist from senior Konrad Kruczek (Clifton, N.J.) at 33:52 to take a 2-1 lead.  Tuesta connected again at 44:12, this time on a penalty kick, which gave the Cougars a 3-1 lead in the first half.

The Cougars are back in action on Wednesday, September 19th as they take on Rutgers-Newark at 7:30 p.m. in Kean Alumni Stadium.
