UNION, N.J. (10/1/11) – Ramapo College junior forward Rob Santaniello scored the game-winning goal with just 61 seconds remaining in the game to lift Ramapo College to a 2-1 victory over host Kean University in New Jersey Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.
Santaniello corralled the loose ball about 35 yards out and took it in for the breakaway goal to break the 1-1 tie for the Roadrunners (6-2-2, 2-1-1 NJAC).
The Cougars (6-3-2, 3-2-0 NJAC) held a slight 16-15 advantage in shots and 6-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Roadrunners took a 1-0 lead early in the game, as sophomore back Chris Freeman sent a pass to senior midfielder Andy Cesti, who fired a shot from about 30-yards out on the left into the upper right hand corner of the net in the 15th minute.
For the Cougars, sophomore Tyler Callahan made five saves, while Ramapo keeper Steve Monaghan stopped four shots.
The Cougars host New York University in a non-conference match at the East Campus Soccer Stadium on Wednesday, October 5, at 4 p.m.
