Simeon Nets Game-Winner in 1-0 Win Over NYU

HILLSIDE, N.J. (10/5/11) – Freshman forward Erickson Simeon netted the game-winning goal in the second half to lift the Kean University men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over New York University in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Cougars improved to 7-3-2 overall, while NYU fell to 5-4-1 overall this season.

After a scoreless first half, Simeon scored the game's lone goal in the 66th minute when he shot around three NYU defenders after the goalkeeper drew out too far from the net.

Both teams had 12 shots in the game, with NYU holding a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. 

Kean goalkeeper Brian Haines made three saves, while NYU goalie Jonah Poster stopped four shots.

The Cougars host Berkeley College on Saturday, October 8, at 5 p.m.
