Old Westbury, N.Y. (9/14/17) – The Kean University men's soccer team battled to a one-all draw on Thursday afternoon in a rescheduled matchup with SUNY Old Westbury.
Both teams played to a scoreless first half with the Cougars (2-1-1) holding a 7-5 advantage in shots.
It wasn't until the 77th minute when Nikolas Sgaraglio put away a feed from Mike Rodrigues to put Old Westbury (1-2-1) up 1-0.
Alex Noriega caused a turnover in the backfield before sending a cross to Kamsi Udodi, who headed the equalizer past Panther goalie Mike Warren in the 88th minute to send a 1-1 game into overtime.
The Cougars were the aggressor in the first overtime period with two shots. Old Westbury was unable to capitalize on a golden opportunity with 2:09 remaining in the second overtime as Jorey Garcia misfired a laser that rattled the left post.
Manuel Steven Ortiz Ruiz stopped five shots for Kean while Mike Warren made 12 saves.
In the end, Kean held the advantage in shots (24-16) and shots on goal (13-6). Both teams finished with three corner kicks each.
The Cougars open New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Saturday when they travel to Stockton University.
