Union, N.J. (10/25/17) – The Kean University men's soccer team topped Ramapo College by the final of 1-0 in their last regular season game on Wednesday night.
With this win, Kean has secured the four seed in the NJAC tournament and will play home on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. against #5 Stockton University.
With the loss Ramapo falls to 8-10-1 and 3-5-1 in the NJAC. The loss places the Roadrunners at seventh in the conference standings, missing the NJAC tournament.
The Cougars (10-6-1, 5-4 NJAC) jumped out to an early lead as Santhy Montufar started the push up field. He passed the ball to Ishmael Soria, who battled defenders and sent the ball to Vinceroy Nelson - making a run up the left side of the box. Nelson fired a one-timer past the keeper for the 1-0 lead.
With strong defense and sharp keeper work, the Cougars were able to hold the lead going into the break.
The second half was an all-out battle, as both teams played very aggressive. But once again, strong defense by both sides kept the half scoreless, leading to a Cougar victory.
