Nelson Tabbed NJAC Rookie of the Year as Men’s Soccer Earns Three All-NJAC Selections

PITMAN, N.J. (11/1/17)- Freshman Vinceroy Nelson has been tabbed the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year as the Kean University men's soccer team earned three All-Conference selections. Nelson earns a spot on the second team, along with junior Erick Reyes. Senior Alex Noriega was named to the Honorable Mention team.

Nelson earned the Rookie of the Year honors after he tallied 17 points on eight goals and one assist, including two game-winners. The Saint Kitts native becomes just the fifth player in program history to take home the award and the first since Rivelino Vieira earned the accolade in 1997. 

Reyes earns his first All-NJAC selection after totaling 16 points on seven goals and two assists, including three game-winners.

Noriega earns his first All-NJAC selection as well, after totaling 12 points on four goals and four assists in 13 starts.

In the other major awards, the nationally ranked Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers-Newark picked up the Offensive Player of the Year (Fabio De Sousa), the Midfielder of the Year (Hubert Dul) and the Goalkeeper of the Year (Andres Medina). Rowan took home the Defensive Player of the Year (Modou Sowe), the David Logar Leadership Award (Tyler Logar), and Coach of the Year (Scott Baker).
