Men's Volleyball Posts Wins Over Stevenson, Lancaster Bible

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (3/10/12) – The Kean University men's volleyball team swept a tri-match at Stevenson University, posting wins over the host Mustangs and Lancaster Bible College.

Rookie John Cunningham had a combined 17 kills and nine digs in the two wins for the Cougars (17-4), who posted a straight set win over Lancaster Bible (25-19, 25-9, 25-18) and trailed 2-1 before rallying for the win over the Mustangs (11-25, 25-17, 16-25, 25-19, 15-12).

Junior Steve Vahalla posted 19 kills and no errors in 30 attack attempts for a remarkable .633 hitting percentage, while adding eight digs.

Freshman Kyle Farley posted 16 kills and eight total blocks in the win, while rookie setters Alex Barnhard (pictured left) and Ron Dunn combined for 82 assists in both matches. 

Senior Christian Portera had 13 kills and four assisted blocks against Stevenson, while libero Tom Kemmerle had a match-high 10 digs.

The Cougars have a 10-day layoff before returning to action on Tuesday, March 20 at Philadelphia Biblical University.
