Vahalla Tabbed AVCA Second-Team All-American
Lexington, Ky. (4/23/12) – Junior Steve Vahalla has been selected as a second-team American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American as announced on Monday.
The honor culminates a highly successful year for not only Vahalla but the men's volleyball program. Vahalla was currently selected as the Skyline Conference men's volleyball Player of the Year in addition to earning Most Valuable Player honors during the recent Skyline Conference Tournament. He is currently ranked 11th in the nation averaging 3.59 kills per set, with a total of 395 kills this season. In addition, he is sporting a .331 hitting percentage (17th in the nation). Vahalla has collected a team-high 37 service aces in addition to 166 digs.
Vahalla is the first member of the men's volleyball program to earn All-American honors as the program is just in its second year of varsity status.
