UNION, N.J. (1/18/17) – The tenth-ranked Kean University men's volleyball team demolished John Jay College in straight-sets in non-conference action on Wednesday. Kean held the Bloodhounds to a negative attack percentage and never trailed.
The set scores were 25-15, 25-6 and 25-11.
There were numerous Kean highlights: Jacob Milnazik (pictured left) paced the team with both five kills and five aces, including a run of three-straight aces in the second set. Shayron Taylor, Dylan Flor, Kamil Garbowski and Jared Warner all hit .667 or better, and Kevin Barrow handed out 25 assists.
Freshman Jay Bynum made his collegiate debut and led the team with two blocks (with one solo stop), while Steve Schrank dug out eight balls. Nico Mercadante was second on the team with five total points.
The Cougars (5-0) hit .433 as a team and had a perfect sideout percentage (6-6) in the second set.
It was the first match of the year for the Bloodhounds.
Kean will return to action on Friday night against Division I NJIT at 7 p.m. in Newark. It will be the Cougars' first match away from Harwood Arena in 2017.
