Ginex Named ECAC Coach of the Year; Kauffman First-Team Selection

DANBURY, Conn. (4/21/17) – Head coach Charlie Ginex of the Kean University men's volleyball program was named the ECAC Division III South Coach of the Year and junior outside hitter Jacob Kauffman was named First-Team All-ECAC when the organization announced its award winners on Friday.

Ginex led the Cougars to their sixth-straight Skyline Conference regular season and tournament championships with a 26-8 record this season. In a remarkable run of consistency, Ginex has piloted the program to 76-straight Skyline Conference wins dating back to 2013. He was the Skyline Coach of the Year in 2014. No Kean coach has won the ECAC award previously.

Kean ended the 2017 season on a 12-match win streak and has won its last 33 sets. The Cougars will become one of only two teams to have played in all NCAA Division III Championships that have ever been held when they host the NCAA Opening Round against the defending National Champions from SUNY New Paltz on Saturday.

Kauffman was the 2017 Skyline Conference Player of the Year and an All-American last season. He led the league in aces and was fourth in the nation in that category. He led the team in kills and points by wide margins.

The York, Pennsylvania native has been a First-Team All-Skyline selection in each of the past two seasons and was the league's Rookie of the Year in his first collegiate campaign. He is the first ECAC All-Star for Kean since current assistant coach Bez Arslani was so named in 2015.
