Charlie Ginex was named the head coach of the men’s volleyball program in the summer of 2013. He served the past two years as assistant coach of the Kean men's team, where he helped lead the newborn program to two Skyline Conference Championships and a pair of berths in the NCAA Tournament. Since Ginex arrived in Union, Kean has gone 51-19 after an 11-23 record in their first year. The Cougars won their first NCAA Tournament game in 2013.
Overall, Ginex has 13 years of volleyball coaching experience. He was assistant coach at Division I Rutgers-Newark in 2010-11 and coached in the New Jersey High School ranks for 10 years prior. He was named the 2010 Daily Record Girls Volleyball Coach of the Year and the 2008 Easton Express Times Girls Volleyball Coach of the Year. While at the prep level, Ginex turned around both the Hackettstown and Randolph High School programs. He led Hackettstown to a winning season in his first year after taking over a 3-24 squad, and led the school to their first conference title and state tournament victory.
At Randolph, he took over a losing program and led the Rams to a 45-16 record in his two seasons there. Prior to that, he was an assistant for the East Brunswick High School boys team that won two state championships in 2003 and 2004.
Ginex earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health and Exercise Science from Rowan University in 2000.
