Smyth Earns Second NJAC Rookie Honor

POMONA, N.J. (3/17/08) - For the second time this season, freshman right-hander Courtney Smyth (Abington, Pa.) earned New Jersey Athletic Conference rookie of the week honors after picking up a pair of victories at the Rebel Spring Games for the Kean University softball team.

In the team's first game of the spring break trip, Smyth scattered seven hits in five and two-thirds innings to earn the 5-4 win over Carthage College on Saturday afternoon.

She improved to 4-0 on Sunday, with a 10-2 win over Loras College, as she allowed no earned runs with the complete game victory.
