Track Competes At Covert Classic
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (1/27/07) - The Kean University Men's and Women's
Indoor Track and Field team competed at the 15TH Annual John Covert
Classic hosted by Lehigh University and held on Saturday, January
27, 2007.
On the men's side freshman Reggie James (Willingboro, N.J.) placed
6th in the men's 500 meter dash with a time of 1:10.87. James also
competed in the men's long jump and placed 8th with a leap of 6.35
meters. Junior Nelson Stryker (Milltown, N.J.) placed 12th in the
men's 200 meter dash with a time of 24.22 seconds. He also finished
15th in the men's 400 meter dash with a time of 56.94 seconds.
Sophomore Jason Staggers (Jackson, N.J.) placed 9th in the men's
500 meter dash with a time of 1:11.17. Junior Ryan Hebron (Middle
Township, N.J.) placed 13th in the men's shot put with a throw of
12.85 meters, while Jan Bergus (Lincoln Park, N.J.) placed 21st in
the same event with a throw of 10.30 meters. In the men's one-mile
run, freshman Ashwin Anatharaman (Hightstown, N.J.) placed 22nd
with a time of 4:59.56.
Highlighting the women's events, Demeka Pressley (Trenton, N.J.)
placed 20th in the women's 200 meter dash with a time of 28.76
while also finishing 13th in the women's long jump with a distance
of 4.79 meters. Sophomore Lauren Vazquez (Edgewater, N.J.) placed
23rd in the women's shot put with a throw of 8.76 meters.
The team will compete again on Saturday, February 3rd at the Frank
Golden Invitational hosted by Ursinus College.
