Cougars Open Outdoor Season at
Monmouth
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (3/24/07) - The Kean University track and
field teams opened the 2007 outdoor season at the 12th
Annual Monmouth University Opener on Saturday, March
24th. The Cougars competed against a strong field
of Divisions I, II and III student-athletes.
Senior Brian Sims (Keyport, N.J.) had the top
finish for the men's team, finishing eighth in the 3000-meter
steeplechase in a time of 10:40.6. Rookie Reggie
James (Willingboro, N.J.) placed 17th in
800-meter run (2:02.72), while junior Ryan Hebron (Middle
Township, N.J.) was 20th in the shot put (12.83
meters).
In the women's meet, sophomore Erin Jones (Upper Saddle
River, N.J.) finished sixth in pole vault with a leap of
2.60 meters and was 19th in the 100-meter hurdles
(17.87). Sophomore Demeka Pressley (Trenton,
N.J.) placed 19th in the long jump (4.67
meters) and was 20th in the 100-meter hurdles (18.33),
while sophomore Sarah Zadoyko (Pompton Lakes,
N.J.) was 18th in the discus throw (24.94
meters).
